Barbara Taylor was born and reared in Detroit, Michigan. She married Daryl Sanders, former NFL player with the Detroit Lions before moving to Columbus, Ohio to open Daryl Sanders Cadillac Agency.

Together, as dedicated community leaders, the Sanders pioneered Zion Christian Fellowship and served on many executive committees including The Greater Columbus Billy Graham Crusade in 1993.

Using their leadership qualities for social concerns, they formed One Foundation, a non-profit that financially aided several inner-city churches to meet the needs of the poor and disadvantaged in Central Ohio. On the 25th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s death, Barbara personally honored Mrs. Coretta Scott King at a formal luncheon held at the King Arts Complex with city leaders in attendance.

As a ten-year board member of the Columbus Teen Challenge for Women, Barbara also motivated single mothers obtain a higher education to better their lives.
